Novosibirsk

Novosibirsk is one of the biggest cities in Russia and considered the third largest city after Moscow and St.Petersburg and the biggest one behind the Ural. It's situated right in the middle of Russia. The City lies on bouth banks of the Ob river.The day when construction of the new bridge across the Ob river was started is considered to be the day when Novosibirsk was founded.

Scientific and Research Work

The Novosibirsk State Medical University is known for its research programs in medicine, biology, pharmacy, sociology, psychology and philosophy.

Most of NSMU research projects are traditionally performed in collaboration with institutes of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (Siberian Branch) and the Russian Academy of Sciences (Siberian Branch). Projects that can potentially benefit public health care practices are given top priority.

The university has 7 dissertation committees, 6 of them are doctoral ones. NSMU offers PhD programs in 13 different disciplines. Over 20 doctoral and more then 100 candidate dissertations are defended annually. An average of 7 inventions are patented annually.

The Novosibirsk State Medical University has its own Dissertation Council for doctoral and master's thesis. The Dissertation Councils are available in the following medical sciences:

All the scientific and educational achievements of our university are reflected in the University's Electronic Journal "Medicine and education in Siberia". The Journal aims to create, support and develop common information space in the fields of medicine, biology, pedagogics, pharmaceutics, sociology, philosophy, economics and psycology with the use of high technologies as well as to develop and deepen the medical contacts and to exchange the information of the up-to-date technologies in the medical and educational spaces.
